Why paddle? It’s a fantastic, aerobic, whole body workout!
Really, isn’t it just your arms? Nope, not if you’re doing it correctly. Sure, your hands are holding the paddle, but the connection from your paddle to move you and your boat through the water, requires your leg and core muscles (back, abdominals) to create the power. Put in a good session and your legs and core will be as tired as any part of your arms.
It’s low impact. Virtually NO impact. Running hurts, cycling includes crashing (are you really a cyclist if you’ve not done your collarbone…??).
Why downwind ocean paddling? It’s all of the same reasons, but with the head-clearing element of concentrating on the ocean to work with Mother Nature. Get some wind and swell behind you and challenge yourself to make the most of it!
Why Brisbane Paddling Club? With a prime inner-city location and storage facilities, you can get in a workout before or after work without having to transport your craft around, getting in the fitness base and paddling technique sessions needed to be confident in joining the downwind sessions.
